Oahu has a variety of lovely campsites to choose from. You can park near beaches or on many of the campgrounds themselves. The one that we recommend the most is Friends of Malaekahana: http://www.alternative-hawaii.com/fom/index.html.

Call ahead to reserve a spot because they tend to fill up in the winter months. They are located right on the beach very close to the beginning of the North Shore in Kahuku and open all week including Wednesdays and Thursdays when most other sites are closed for maintenance.

We also recommend Bellows, which is open to the public for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night camping. It is on the beach in Waimanalo very near Kailua. Permits are available for this at any of our satellite city halls located at various locations around the Island. They also offer permits for lots of other campgrounds. You have to apply for these permits in person once you get here.

Upon pickup of vehicle, would be more than happy to give other suggestions of places to go and directions how to get those locations depending on your interests.
